After Monday’s dramatic “9-1-1” finale, fans will be anxiously wondering if Fox has canceled or renewed the EMS drama. Luckily, the network isn’t keeping fans waiting.

Fox renewed “9-1-1” for Season 4 last month. TVLine reports that it was averaging 6.8 million viewers and pulling in a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic at the time of the renewal. The drama, produced by Ryan Murphy, is Fox’s top scripted drama in both the demo and overall audience, according to TV Series Finale. Among all programming, “9-1-1” is only surpassed by “The Masked Singer.”

The strong performance carried over to the official spinoff, “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which airs immediately after the flagship show. The Texas-based installment of the franchise was renewed for Season 2. It’s ranked right behind “9-1-1” as the second-highest-rated scripted show with a 1.2 rating in the demo and 6.3 million overall viewers.

“Lone Star” wrapped up its first season last month while Monday night’s “9-1-1” will be the action-packed hour fans have been waiting to see. The second part of the Season 3 finale is set to be an intense one, with original cast member Connie Britton back as Abby, a 911 dispatcher who is on the scene of a massive train derailment.

The accident will reunite Abby and Buck (Oliver Stark), and the latter will be shocked to learn that Abby is engaged. Based on this sneak-peek video, he’ll likely have to search for her fiancé.

Meanwhile, in the trailer, Athena (Angela Bassett) seemingly claims that she is retiring from the police force after 30 years on the job. Brooke Shields will guest star as a doctor who helps Athena as she grapples with choosing a path forward after her near-death confrontation with a serial rapist. Elsewhere, Michael (Rockmond Dunbar) seems to be getting the results of his brain scan.

Rumer Willis is also a finale guest star. She will play a victim of the trainwreck.

The “9-1-1” Season 3 finale airs Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox. Though it earned a Season 4 renewal, it isn’t clear when the series will return. “9-1-1” Season 4, like almost all other TV and film productions, is on hold for now. Fox did not include it on their planned fall schedule.
