A Haitian judge decided Thursday to free all of the U.S. missionaries jailed in Haiti, according to independent reports from Reuters and the Associated Press.

The ten missionaries were arrested and jailed for allegedly attempting to kidnap 33 Haitian children. The ruling means the judge, Bernard Saint-Vil, recommends their release while the investigation on the case continues.

According to the news agencies, the judge made his decision after interviewing the parents of the children and discarding the Americans had criminal intentions.

Saint-Vil's decision had not been made public by midday Thursday.
