A boxing promoter is positive about matching the “future Floyd Mayweather” against Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez.

Back in 2015, Floyd Mayweather Sr. himself stated that he already found the fighter who could follow the footsteps of his son. According to Mayweather Sr., lightweight sensation Devin Haney could be “the future Mayweather” in boxing.

“There’s going to be another Floyd, I got one already, his name is Devin Haney. Believe me, remember what I told you here on September 13, 2015,” Mayweather Sr. told Inside The Ropes in 2015.

Roughly four years after the undefeated legend’s father made the statement, Matchroom Sport’s boss and Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn could move up and fight Pacquiao and Canelo.

Hearn has been convinced that Haney has what it takes to be the next biggest fighter in America. In fact, in his most recent interview with Boxing Scene, the young promoter has vowed to match the “work ethic” of Haney and book him the best fights possible.

“We will drive and proceed to make sure we match his work ethic,” Hearn vowed.

More importantly, Hearn is looking forward to a lasting working relationship with Haney. He is also confident that the young lightweight could move up to 154 lbs where he can possibly cross paths with the likes of Pacquiao and Canelo.

“There is no question that he's going to move through the weight classes. You're looking at a guy who can win titles all the way up to 154 pounds,” Hearn pointed out.

Haney on his part, has also expressed the same optimism about the idea of working with Hearn. Based on Haney’s prediction, Hearn is the promoter that could hand him the biggest title fights in the future.

“We knew he was the best promoter to get us to a world title, who believed in what we’re trying to build and who could keep me active while pursuing all of those goals,” Haney said about signing with Hearn.

However, at this point, Haney has got his eyes locked on one fighter in the lightweight division. In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Haney said he is more than just a prospect in the division and his goal is to win the WBC interim world championship against lightweight champ Vasyl Lomachencko.

“The WBC interim world championship means a lot to me. Some people kept labeling me a prospect when I knew I was so much more,” Haney stated.

“This not only makes me the WBC mandatory for Vasiliy Lomachenko, but I'm able to do interim title defenses until Loma is ready to fight,” Haney added.
