  • A new dashcam video highlights the troubles between Petito and Laundrie
  • The video comes as the search for Laundrie continues
  • Laundrie has been on the run since Sept. 14

Further details about Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie surfaced late Thursday, as a newly released bodycam footage showed an argument between the two.

A witness of the Aug. 12 incident reportedly described the pair as "sort of squabbling over a phone" and striking each other "kind of like two kids fighting," according to CNN.

Petito reportedly told a Utah police officer, who arrived at the scene after a person reported a domestic dispute, her then-fiance Laundrie grabbed her face during an argument.

The bodycam video is from a second Moab officer who arrived at the scene of the incident. It is said to be from the same day as a previous video that showed Petito was nearly cited for domestic violence. The footage highlights the troubles between Petito and Laundrie during their cross-country road trip over the summer.

The footage comes as investigators are working on Petito's homicide case and continue searching for Laundrie who has been on the run since Sept. 14, when his parents said he went for a hike in nearby Carlton Reserve. His family reported him missing on Sept. 17.

Authorities found Petito’s remains in a national forest in Wyoming on Sept. 19. Petito's case garnered nationwide attention, with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies working to locate Laundrie.

The newly obtained footage provides more details of the interactions between Moab police officers, Petito and Laundrie. The video from Moab officer Eric Pratt's body camera is more than 52 minutes long, Wate.com reported.

"You slapped him first? And just on his face?" Pratt can be heard asking Petito, to which she responds, "Well, he kept telling me to shut up."

"Did he hit you, though? I mean, it's OK if you're saying you hit him, and then I understand if he hit you, but we want to know the truth if he actually hit you, because you know...," Pratt says.

"I guess, I guess, yeah, but I hit him first," Petito responds, following which the officer asks her where he hit her.

"Well, he like grabbed my face, like, I guess. ... He didn't like, hit me in the face. He didn't, like, punch me in the face or anything," Petito tells him.

"Did he slap your face or what?" Pratt asks.

"Well he, like, grabbed me with his nail, and I guess that's why it looks... definitely I was cut right here [points to cheek] because I can feel it. When I touch it, it burns," Petito says.

A footage released previously from the same day showed Laundrie’s account of the incident between him and his fiancée.
