Game of Thrones
Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) appears to be releasing her dragons in a new trailer for "Game of Thrones" Season 5. HBO

The wait for the first Season 5 trailer for “Game of Thrones” was long, but since its arrival in January HBO has been pumping out teasers for the new episodes like clockwork. A 30-second promo was released Monday and, despite its short length, the trailer provides a few glimpses of what is in store when the new season premieres on April 12.

Here are four things we learned from the new “Game of Thrones” promo:

Stannis Plotting

One shot from the new trailer shows Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) looking over what appears to be a large map with Melisandre (Carice van Houten) standing by his side. It would seem the would-be king is planning his invasion south. Will there be another big battle in Season 5?

Jaime Tested

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) spent Season 4 training with Bronn (Jerome Flynn) to handle a sword following the loss of his right hand. It looks like that training is paying off as the Kings Guard leader is going at it in the new trailer with a mystery foe. Why is he fighting? The colors of the clothes on his opponent suggest that his enemy is from Dorne, and we already know Jaime is headed to the new location in Season 5. It seems not everyone will welcome his visit.

Ellaria And Doran

Doran Martel (Alexander Siddig) – Oberyn’s (Pedro Pascal) father and the ruling prince of Dorne – will be a new character in Season 5, and though fans have seen glances of the character in previous trailers and set photos, this is the first shot of Doran in his wheelchair. In the brief scene, Ellaria (Indira Varma) kneels before the handicapped ruler.

Enter The Dragon

The new promo ends with Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) headed down into the catacombs of Meereen where she locked up her dragons. Will she be letting her dangerous pets out again? An earlier shot from the promo shows her being protected during an apparent ambush. Perhaps she needs the added protection.
