On Tuesday night, "The Genetic Detective" will follow CeCe Moore as she examines the 1996 murder of 18-year-old Angie Dodge. Throughout the new episode of the ABC crime show, the genetic genealogist's methods for solving crimes will be highlighted as she works to find the killer's true identity.

For more than 23 years, police in Idaho Falls, Idaho, have attempted to solve Dodge's murder. After finding her body in her apartment, they learned that she had been raped and murdered. Even though DNA was not used as prominently at that time, Moore was able to use the "most degraded" sample she had encountered in order to search for a match. Even though such a challenge was presented, Moore was still able to positively identify the person responsible for the cold case.

According to a press release, this week's "Genetic Detective" episode will follow the Idaho Police Department as they "track the suspect, collect his DNA and match it to the DNA found at the crime scene." Viewers will also get to see "a heart-pounding arrest" as a result of the innovative work conducted by Moore.

Not only will the identification lead investigators to the correct person, but it will also work to exonerate Chris Tapp, who had been wrongly accused of Dodge's murder. As a result, he had spent 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

Throughout the new episode, various interviews will also be featured as a way to give more context to the story. Idaho Falls Police Department’s Captain Bill Squires, Detective Jeff Pratt, and reporter Bryan Clark will make appearances. Additionally, Angie's mother, Carol Dodge, will give a new interview as well.

Previously, the CeCe Moore-led crime show focused on other cold cases, including the 1987 murders of Jay Cook and Tanya Van Cuylenborg. Throughout the Season 1 premiere, those who tuned in got to see Moore, along with DNA technology company Parabon NanoLabs, determine who had been responsible for those crimes as well.

This episode of "The Genetic Detective," called "Who Killed Angie Dodge?", will air Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
