KEY POINTS

  • Sumeru is confirmed to be the next destination for Paimon and the Traveler
  • “Genshin Impact” patch 2.2 will add more Inazuma-related content, according to leaks
  • Dendro might be implemented as a proper element soon

Patch 2.1 for “Genshin Impact” was recently released, and it brought with it the end of the main conflict involving the islands of Inazuma and its patron deity, the Raiden Shogun. While there’s still much more that the game has to cover, fans are left wondering what’s in store for fans in “Genshin Impact’s” future updates.

Now that the issues with the Shogun and Fatui’s involvement in Inazuma have been resolved, players are once again free to explore the rest of the islands without worrying about a main questline. However, the end of the main quest doesn’t necessarily mean that MiHoYo is done with Inazuma.

Here are a few things that may happen in “Genshin Impact” now that the Inazuma crisis is over.

Sumeru and the Chasm

Shortly after defeating the Raiden Shogun and exposing the Fatui’s manipulation, Yae Miko informed the traveler that they know nothing about their missing sibling or the mysterious god that attacked them before the first events of the game began. However, Miko did point the Traveler toward Sumeru, suggesting that the god of wisdom may know the answers.

Sumeru is all but confirmed to be the next destination that players will head towards, but it’s likely that the developers will first have to open the way there first. Should early speculations regarding Sumeru’s location prove to be true, then players will have to cross the Chasm in Liyue before they reach the Dendro Archon’s Domain.

Dendro’s Implementation

Now that Sumeru is confirmed, it won’t be long until Dendro is finally implemented into the game. So far, only Dendro Slimes and Samachurls can use the element, and while Baizhu is confirmed to be a Dendro user, players still aren’t sure about what he can do.

Perhaps MiHoYo is getting close to finally revealing what Dendro’s mechanics are and how it will interact with the other elements apart from simply burning when touching fire.

More Inazuma Content

Beta patch 2.2 leaks suggested that there’s still one more unrevealed Inazuman island. No one knows what this island might have in store for players, however, and it may or may not involve a new main questline.

Thoma is also confirmed to be coming in the next patch, as footage of him as a playable character has surfaced online. More Inazuman characters are expected over the next few patches as well.

Back to Liyue

The upcoming Moonchase Festival will have players return to Liyue to help Xiangling and Keqing in a culinary adventure across the nation of contracts. This event is expected to play somewhat like the Lantern Rite Festival, with a variety of prizes awaiting each player at the end of special activities.
