Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have broken up once again. Their split comes two years after they rekindled their romance and one year after they welcomed their daughter, Khai.

The supermodel and the former One Direction star have split following Malik's alleged dispute with the former's mother, Yolanda, a source told People.

"They aren't together right now. They are both good parents though," said the source. "They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."

A source from Gigi's camp also revealed that the model has been focusing on their child since the couple called it quits. "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time," the source told the outlet.

News of Hadid and Malik's split comes after a report claimed Yolanda was planning to file a police complaint against her daughter's beau for allegedly striking her. Malik denied the claim and told TMZ that he "agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago."

Malik also said he wanted the issue to remain a private matter.

"This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been 'leaked' to the press," the singer said in a statement.

Sources told People that Malik was referring to Yolanda in his statement.

Hadid and Malik have been in an on-and-off relationship since 2015. They first sparked romance rumors in November 2015 after being spotted together at an American Music Awards after-party. After dodging questions about the rumors for months, Hadid starred in Malik's PDA-filled music video for his single "Pillow Talk" in 2016.

The last time they rekindled their romance after a split was in 2019. Hadid took to Instagram at the time to share a photo of Malik, captioning her post, "Hey Valentine." They went on to welcome their first child together in September 2020.
