Hollywood has been swamped with a lot of sexual assault controversies of late, and it all started after mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused by several women of unwanted sexual advances.

A lot of stars took a stand after the accusations came out, including “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez. She dropped both her agency and management company after both have been linked to ongoing sexual misconduct revelations in the industry, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rodriguez severed ties with APA and Primary Wave Entertainment. Her manager, Primary Wave co-CEO David Guillod, resigned on Saturday after actress Jessica Barth - his former client - accused her of drugging then sexually assaulting her back in 2012.

Rodriguez has been with APA since 2012 - two years before landing the role of Jane Gloriana Villanueva in “Jane the Virgin.” The CW show is now in its fourth season, and the Latina actress confessed that it’s her favorite season thus far.

Rodriguez told Elite Daily that it’s because the show is bringing back positive elements to its theme. “Joy, happiness, Jane getting back on her feet, rising above grief, learning her prowess… it’s just a really well written season,” she said.

Rodriguez is also appreciative how show creator and executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman considers the opinions of the cast, and weaves their thoughts into the show.

“She listens to our conversations, watching people interact day-to-day,” Rodriguez said. “So much of what comes out on the show is from Jennie’s experiences. The stories from writers, or stories they hear, they’re all common, true, and pertain to real life. We don’t sugarcoat anything.”

Jane’s happiness can be attributed to the introduction of her first love, Adam Alvaro (Tyler Posey). He taught her how to have fun and loosen up again, and it is for this reason that Posey believes Jane needs him in her life right now.

“Adam’s a sweetheart. And he has everyone’s best interests in mind, and all he wants to do is kinda have fun and I think Jane kind of needs that in her life,” he told Vanity Fair.

Sadly, the two have broken up because Adam has to move away for his work. Is there a chance for them to end up together? Or will Jane rekindle her feelings for her baby daddy, Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni)?

Find out when “Jane the Virgin” Season 4 returns this Friday on The CW at 9 p.m. EDT.
