Janet (D'Arcy Carden) may know everything about afterlife, but she definitely needs more practice in imitating how humans cry.

In a sneak peek for “The Good Place” Season 1, episode 7, entitled “The Eternal Shriek,” Janet demonstrates her “best approximation of human crying” in front of the whole neighborhood after Michael (Ted Danson) asks her how she will feel after he leaves the good place forever.

“Oh my dear Janet, will you be okay after I leave?” Michael asks Janet after announcing his decision to retire from his job as the architect of the neighborhood.

“Yes,” Janet answers. “This will not affect me in any way.”

When Eleanor (Kristen Bell) chimes in to tell Janet to “show some compassion,” the Siri-like celestial being says: “Well, I can’t feel sad. But here’s my best approximation of human crying.” Watch the clip below to see Janet trying her best to cry like a human.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Mike Schur revealed that episode 7 is all about Janet, so viewers can expect more fun stuff with Carden’s character in this week’s installment.

“Episode 7 is sort of a Janet-centric episode,” Schur told the news outlet. “Really, the whole thing is about Janet, and I think it might be my favorite episode, if not of the season, at least up to this point.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, Janet guides Eleanor and Chidi (William Jackson Harper) on a quest. While it’s unclear what exactly this quest is, the duo probably work together to stop Michael from leaving the neighborhood.

Also in the episode, Tahani (Jameela Jamil) tries to show Michael how much he is appreciated in the neighborhood despite of his belief that he is the one who has caused all of catastrophes in the good place.

“The Good Place” Season 1, episode 7 airs on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
