Gotham Season 2 Ep. 17 Hiatus
Nygma (Cory Michael Smith, left) will be forced to deal with Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie, right) in episode 17 of “Gotham” Season 2. Fox

Fans of Fox’s “Gotham” that are eager to see Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) on his road to redemption will have to wait a week to see what happens next. Monday night’s episode of “Gotham” Season 2 will be an encore episode from the fall.

“Gotham” Season 2, episode 17, titled “Into The Woods,” won’t air on Fox until Monday, April 11, at 8 p.m. EDT. It’s unclear why “Gotham” isn’t new on Monday night.

Episode 8 of “Gotham” Season 2 will be shown Monday night, which will be a good refresher for fans to see where things left off with Gordon’s ex-fiancé, Barbara (Erin Richards). Barbara went after Gordon and Lee (Morena Baccarin) and when Gordon tried to stop her she fell from the second floor of a church. Barbara ended up surviving the fall but slipped into a coma. She recently woke up from that coma on the show and is expected to return in episode 17.

In addition to the return of Barbara, Gordon will have his hands full in the next episode after escaping from prison thanks to help from Don Falcone (John Doman). Gordon will head back to Gotham City to try and clear his name, but unfortunately for him, the person he’ll turn to for help is actually the man responsible for him going to jail. Gordon will go to Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) for help with his case file. Gordon still has no idea Nygma is behind what happened.

Penguin’s (Robin Lord Taylor) storyline could also take an interesting turn in episode 17. After becoming a more gentile person, Penguin could be shoved back into a life of crime and violence following the death of his father Elijah (Paul Reubens). When he learns that his stepfamily is responsible for poisoning him, it’s very likely he’ll go back to his old ways and could avenge his father.
