Scarecrow fans better watch out for the second episode of “Gotham” Season 4. FOX

The Scarecrow (Charlie Tahan) will be back in “Gotham” Season 4, but in which episode will he make his reappearance?

According to Ben McKenzie, who plays Detective Jim Gordon, Scarecrow fans better tune in to the second episode of the upcoming season. “People have to face their own worst fears and end up sort of embodying them and living through their own nightmares,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a little nightmarish. It has a fright movie feel to it. It’s fun.”

The origin story of the Scarecrow, also known as Jonathan Crane (Charlie Tahan), was established during the 15th episode of the first season, after Gordon and his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) went after his father, Gerald, for harvesting the adrenal glands of his murder victims. Jonathan was last seen screaming in terror in the hospital, after being injected by his father’s experiment and being subjected to a constant state of terror.

Another villain to watch out for in Season 4 is Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell), who used to be mobster Butch Gilzean. Butch was left in a coma after being shot by Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), but he wasn’t treated well in the Gotham General Hospital.

Executive producer John Stephens said, “And so in order to clear up space for more beds, the administrators at the hospital have him dumped in Slaughter Swamp, as one does in Gotham. So he emerges reborn out of Slaughter Swamp as the character we know as Solomon Grundy.”

Surprisingly, the first person Grundy would talk to in his new form is Butch’s former enemy, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith). He does not remember all the nasty things Ed did to him in the past, so they team up.

“We begin the story of a very unlikely friendship between these two who are sworn enemies but now, all of a sudden in Season 4, are best friends as they move through Gotham,” Stephens teased.

The two of them will not be alone, since they’ll also be teaming up with Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins. Stephens told Cinema Blend that she’ll be “very different” next season, and the three of them will “form this weird little family.”

“Gotham” Season 4 will premiere on Sept. 21 on FOX.
