A 68-year-old woman shot a cyclist who allegedly tried to break into her house while masturbating on Tuesday afternoon in southeast Houston, Texas.

According to ABC13, the woman, identified as “Granny Jean” was taking her trash out near the 6600 block of Cherrydale Drive when she saw the man. He was apparently riding a bike and pleasuring himself, Houston Police Department Lieutenant Larry Crowson said adding the woman had yelled at him to stop, but he didn't obey.

"Some guy pulled off his pants and pulled his pants open, playing with his thing, and he ran up and I told him to get away from my door, or I will shoot him," Jean said.

The man allegedly tried to break in after following her to the front door, which is when the woman grabbed her pistol.

"And he kept coming and reached for my door after it was locked, so I shot through the door," Jean said. The man was shot in the chest.

Jean called the 911 right after and told the dispatchers that she shot someone. The man, meanwhile, ran back to his bike and tried to get away.

He pedaled a few feet away from the house and collapsed on the ground, Crowson said. He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition by the paramedics. The 38-year-old man required surgery, but his condition is stable, police said.

Crowson said the woman was not immediately charged after she was questioned by officers and homicide detectives. The police will discuss with Harris County District Attorney's Office to decide on necessary charges, if any.

"I don't bother nobody, I don't get in nobody's business," Jean said. "It's just me and him, and like I keep saying, I warned him."

Jean had a 14-year-old granddaughter who was inside the home when the incident unfurled. Initially, investigators believed the man had exposed himself to the granddaughter. On further questioning the grandmother, they found that wasn’t the case.

The child did not see any of it, Crowson said.

"I would have done the same thing if it were my house," a neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told Chron. "Ain't no telling what else he was going to do or what he's got. She was protecting her property."

The suspect is a repeat offender. Police said the same man had earlier ran around naked in the streets in Bellfort, and was arrested later. He was out on bond when the present incident happened.

A sign outside Jean’s home says "Save the drama for your mamma." And for those that do bring drama, she said, "They better stay away."

In an unrelated incident, a 75-year-old woman was sentenced to at least 22 years in prison on April 18, 2013, for second-degree murder of her 17-year-old grandson in 2017. Sandra Layne shot her grandson Jonathan Hoffman three times in the chest on May 18, 2012.

Hoffman had called for help as he was shot. Right after he said “I've just been shot. My grandma shot me. I'm going to die. Help,” to the police officers on the phone, he was shot again.

When the police reached the scene, Layne walked out of the home screaming “I murdered my grandson.”
