More and more sharks have been seen either dead or alive across the U.S. Three Cape Cod beaches were briefly closed last Saturday after great white sharks were confirmed to have been spotted in the area.

According to a Facebook post from the Truro Recreation Department and the Truro police, Head of the Meadow Beach and Coast Guard Beach in Truro were shut down at 1:30 p.m. for an hour. Nauset Beach in Orleans was also closed down for an hour at 2:45 p.m.

Head of the Meadow Beach was again shut down at 3:00 p.m. due to the shark sightings. According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, a great white was seen by a spotter pilot at 2:46 p.m.

The great white shark taking over the waters of California has been rising over the past few weeks. Then just last Sunday, a great white shark was found dead ans washed ashore in Carlsbad state beach.

While the Goulart family was setting up for a birthday party at the beach, they noticed the dead shark in the water. Quickly, they pulled the shark to the shore and called the lifeguards swiftly after. One of the lifeguards notes that the shark was about five to six feet long.

The shark, reportedly seen on the beach for about an hour and a half, seem to have been wounded around the mouth area. They stated that it look as if it was injured by a boat or possibly harmed by a fisherman's hook.

Despite all that, the Goulart family said that the events that transpired were a sight to behold.

“You know it kind of added as a day to remember. To actually see a great white shark, which again is so sad to see, but it was also pretty amazing to see," Katie Goulart stated.

The dead shark was later on picked up by Sea World, so they could determine how it died.
