  • "GTA 6" is not coming out anytime soon
  • "GTA 6" development being debated
  • Leakers feel "GTA 6" is not in developmental stages

"Grand Theft Auto 6" is a game that video gamers are eagerly awaiting but it appears that the next installment is nowhere near to happening. Hope spurred some years back when Rockstar Games came out with "Red Dead Redemption 2." Most were left with the assumption that "GTA 6" would be next.

After almost a year and a half, nothing has come close to a potential "Grand Theft Auto 6" release. Rumors are flying but that is just about it. Rockstar Games has yet to issue an official update on the game and it appears nothing is happening anytime soon. However, former Kotaku news editor and current Bloomberg insider Jason Shreider bats that "GTA 6" may only be in the early stages of development. But as far as seeing a new installment, he mentioned on social media that such is years away.

But some disagree. That includes insiders like @Yan2295, someone is behind past leaks about Rockstar-related developments that ended up being confirmed. Though he does not doubt that allegations of Schrier and where he is getting his information, he disagrees that "Grand Theft Auto 6" is only in the early stages of development.

Potentially supporting that claim is that leaks have already come out about "Grand Theft Auto 6." That includes the probable protagonists and even the "GTA 6" map. The leak cropped up over at 4chan via Reddit channel.

In the leak, the map of "Grand Theft Auto 6" will allegedly be the size of "Grand Theft Auto V" and "Red Dead Redemption 2" combined. It was also mentioned that there will also be some minigames and that the four protagonists will be Walther Wallace, Thomas Branigan, Macus Burke, and an Israeli former IDF guy whose identity is unknown.

With mostly rumors, it may be safe to say that "Grand Theft Auto 6" is unlikely to come out this year. According to Comicbook.com, a feasible date to see "GTA 6" comes out is 2022. However, even that is uncertain.

It has almost been seven years since the last "Grand Theft Auto" installment came out and it appears gamers will just need to wait longer. It all depends on when Rockstar Games starts to scratch the surface. Given that there are more pressing concerns right now caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, even that holds a cloud of uncertainty.
