Hailee Steinfeld has shared new details about her character in the upcoming Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” where she is set to star as Kate Bishop alongside Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton.

In an interview with ET, Steinfeld described her character as an “interesting and fun” one. She said she’s excited to bring the character to life and embark on what ends up being “a very wild journey right around Christmastime” with Renner.

“She is a New York City girl who has looked at Hawkeye and idolized this person her whole life,” she said of Kate Bishop. “And she finds herself in a very fun, crazy, possible life-threatening situation, where she is face-to-face with her hero.”

Steinfeld also revealed in an earlier interview how her character will cross paths with Hawkeye in the series. “Kate wants to do good. She has this burning desire to follow in Hawkeye’s footsteps. She’s idolized this person forever and then she finds herself on this wild ride with him,” she said.

“Hawkeye” marks Steinfeld’s first project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the interview, she said she’s excited for the series to come out because it’s “very fun.”

The first trailer of “Hawkeye” was released in September, showing Steinfeld teaming up with Renner, whose character is trying to reconnect with family for the holidays following his adventures with the Avengers. Back in July, Renner described Steinfeld’s character as “a 22-year-old kid” who’s “a big Hawkeye fan.”

“She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye,” he said at the time. “The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life,” he added.

“Hawkeye” is the latest Marvel series to arrive on Disney+, following “Loki,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and “WandaVision.” Its cast also includes Vera Farmiga and Florence Pugh, who will return to the MCU as Yelena after being introduced in “Black Widow.”

“Hawkeye” will premiere on Nov. 24 on Disney+.
