Halsey has responded to the lawsuit filed against her by the former nanny of her baby.

Ashley Funches sued the singer Thursday for disability discrimination and retaliation, claiming she was wrongfully fired from her job.

According to the lawsuit, Halsey fired the nanny after she requested time off for a medical procedure that would require her to take a leave of absence from work. Funches also claimed that she "worked around the clock on consecutive days with little to no day of rest" throughout the majority of her employment. She allegedly complained to the singer about her long working hours in October 2021 and not being paid for working overtime.

After she complained, Halsey gave her $5,000 as a one-time payment for the extra hours she had worked, the former employee said. However, the singer allegedly did not explain how the lump sum payment "compensated" her for "all of her overtime hours to date."

In a statement, Halsey's representative described the former nanny's claims as "baseless" and maintained that she was fired over "specific incidents." "These allegations are baseless. This individual's employment was recently terminated in response to specific incidents in which Halsey's infant was left unsupervised in an unsafe location while under the nanny's care, and it was discovered the nanny was intoxicated while the child was in her care," Halsey's representative explained.

"Furthermore, at no time during this individual's term of employment with Halsey were any complaints even raised. Consequently, while Halsey is both saddened and disappointed by this turn of events, they feel it is important to refute these allegations publicly, as they take ableism and ethical working conditions very seriously," the representative said, adding that the singer remains to be a vocal advocate of both against ableism and for ethical working conditions.

Halsey and her partner, Alev Alydin, welcomed their first baby, Ender Ridley Aydin, in July 2021. The pair hired Funches as a live-in nanny following their son's birth but terminated her employment in March.

Halsey is known for using her platform to speak about social issues, including ableism. She revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with multiple conditions and clarified that she"didn't just get sick."

"I've been sick. For a long time. My sicknesses just have their names now," the singer wrote in an Instagram story at the time.
