While most people might be focusing on the upcoming Christmas holiday, Jewish people are gearing up for their own winter celebration—Hanukkah.

Hanukkah, an eight-night long celebration which commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem during the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Secluded empire, is a special time of year for Jewish families. Traditions include nightly menorah lightings, special prayers, and gifts, traditionally involving gelt (a monetary offering) that is given to children.

However, despite being such a big holiday for those practicing Judaism, the holiday doesn’t get quite as large of a presence in the entertainment world. Still, there are several TV show episodes and movies worth watching as a part of your Hanukkah celebrations this year.
