Meredith (Lili Mirojnick) and Amanda (Medina Senghore) come face to face with the man who delivers the red card to the parents’ of the missing kids in a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 4 of Syfy’s “Happy!” Syfy/Peter Kramer

Will Meredith and Amanda finally find Hailey in the next episode of “Happy!”?

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 4 of the Syfy series, Meredith’s (Lili Mirojnick) search for Amanda’s (Medina Senghore) daughter Hailey (Bryce Lorenzo) draws her ever closer to Very Bad Santa (Joseph D. Reitman).

In a sneak peek from the episode, Meredith and Amanda stumble upon a lead while arguing about how to track down Hailey’s kidnapper.

In the one-a-half-minute video, Meredith and Amanda talk to a couple whose child was also kidnapped from a Sunny Shine event. But when Meredith receives a couple of photos of her mom with Smoothie (Patrick Fischler), the detective abruptly tells the grieving parents that she and Amanda are now leaving.

On their way out, Amanda calls Meredith out for cutting the interview short. “I’m sorry with all sympathy that everything you’re going through, but I can’t be out here all night playing TV detective,” Meredith tells Nick Sax’s (Christopher Meloni) former lover. “They’re sub stories, not leads.”

When Amanda reminds Meredith that the couple’s child got lost in a Sunny Shine event just like Hailey, Meredith replies, “I get it, I do. But I can’t investigate every family that has a missing kid on the off chance that whoever brought you the card is just gonna show up.”

Oddly enough, just as Meredith is finishing up her sentence, a rider stops in front of the couple’s house to deliver a card similar to the red one Amanda received from Hailey’s kidnapper in Season 1, episode 2.

Elsewhere in the next episode, Mr. Blue’s (Ritchie Coster) sister Isabella Scaramucci (Debi Mazar ) shows up. According to Deadline, Isabella is a calculating, dripping-in-Dolce mother who is dead-set on exacting revenge for the murder of her sons.

Also in the episode, Sax and Happy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) follow their fortunes to Chinatown.

In an interview with /FILM, co-creator Grant Morrison teased what viewers can expect from the next episode. “By the time we get into episode 4, there’s a mystical door that opens,” Morrison said. “There’s things that I think viewers just will not expect to see. We start to basically open more doors in the world. I think anyone’s assumptions from the first two [episodes] will be challenged and upturned by episodes 3 and 4. We’ve tried to keep it up through the whole series so that the tone changes quite a lot through it.”

“Happy!” Season 1, episode 4, titled “Year of the Horse,” airs on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 10 p.m. EST on Syfy.
