Get ready to hear some music next summer from the hit musical “In The Heights” as the big-screen adaptation gets its first trailer. Warner Bros. released the trailer for the film adaptation of the popular Broadway show and we got at least two original cast members making their return in the movie version.

Adapted from Lin-Michael Miranda’s 2008 Broadway musical “In The Heights,” the film takes place over three days in the New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights. The story follows Unsavi de la Vega (Anthony Ramos), a bodega owner who struggles with giving up his store and leaving his community behind to retire in the Dominican Republic after inheriting his grandmother’s fortune. Miranda starred as Unsavi in the original musical and will also be making an appearance in the feature adaptation.

Miranda dropped the trailer on Twitter after putting out a teaser the night before it was released, who also serves as producer for the film. The rights of the film were given to Warner Bros. for $50 million after a bidding war with several other studios after the rights were released from The Weinstein Company. Universal Pictures previously acquired the film’s rights with Kenny Ortega formerly attached to direct.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians”), the film has an ensemble cast including Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Dascha Planco, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jimmy Smits, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Marc Anthony and Stephanie Beatriz. Also starring is Olga Merediz who is reprising her Tony-nominated role of Abuela Claudia from the original Broadway production. Miranda, who also starred in the stage musical and wrote the soundtrack, will be appearing in the film as well as Piragua Guy. Quiara Algeria Hudes, who wrote the musical's book, will be helping adapt the screenplay with Marc Klein.

“In The Heights” had a successful run on Broadway from 2008 to 2011. The show was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, winning four in 2008, including Best Musical and Original Score. The musical also managed to win at the Grammys for Best Musical Album. After the success of the musical, Miranda went on to create the Tony-winning musical “Hamilton.”

Audiences can catch “In The Heights” when it releases in theaters Jun. 26, 2020.
