KEY POINTS

  • Some internet browsers have games that users can play
  • Some are easy to access, like Microsoft Edge's "Let's Surf" and Google Chrome's Dinosaur game
  • Some, like Firefox's "Pong," needs more effort to access

Internet browsers have always been helpful in many ways. One of the ways it is able to help users is that it can be used to surf the internet for amusing, at times entertaining ways, especially at a time when people are forced to stay at home during the current global pandemic.

Internet browsers, however, depend on the internet to work. Without an internet connection, users won't be able to use these to browse things on the world wide web. Thankfully, some browsers can still be used to have fun even when the connection is down. That's because they offer at least one game that players can offer.

Here's a quick look at what internet browser offers a game and how to access them for some time-wasting fun.

Let's Surf” – Microsoft Edge Chromium

Microsoft recently released an entertaining pixel-art game titled “Let's Surf.” This game is essentially the classic game “SkiFree,” but in summer where players get to surf waves instead of skiing on snowy territory.

The game can be accessed whenever Edge Chromium is open but there's no internet connection. Alternatively, users can open Edge Chromium, type “edge://surf” into the address bar, then hit enter. The game is pretty basic, but it does offer different game modes that players can try.

The Dinosaur Game – Google Chrome

Google previously released a hit game about a running dinosaur who jumps and avoids cactuses along the way. This game is normally accessed whenever the internet connection is lost and the “ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED” message appears on the screen. If the dinosaur is there, users can play the game.

Those who don't want to turn the modem off but want to play the game can simply launch Google Chrome, type “chrome://dino“ into the address bar, then hit enter. Once the friendly dinosaur appears, users will need to hit space to start running.

Pong” – Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox isn't just concerned with user privacy. It's also concerned with offering users an entertaining game when the internet is down. The thing is, this game doesn't appear on the screen whenever the internet is down; users have to look for it. Here's how, according to Lifehacker:

  • First, users will need to launch Firefox, right-click on the toolbar, then click on Customize.
  • Second, on the screen that appears, users should drag every icon to the OverFlow menu. Users should expect to see nothing but the “Flexible space” option left on the main screen.
  • Third, after this, an icon with a unicorn should appear on the row of buttons at the bottom.

Clicking on the unicorn icon launches the “Pong” game, which uses the “Flexible space” button serving as the blocks and the unicorn serving as the “ball.”
