This time last year, "The Hills" fans were given the treat of a lifetime with the premiere of the show's reboot "The Hills: New Beginnings." This year though, things are turning out a little differently. Here's what we know so far about Season 2 of "The Hills: New Beginnings."

The MTV reality show will be back on the air for another season, however, when Season 2 will hit television screens is still up in the air. Earlier this year, the show, like many others, has to stop production due to the coronavirus pandemic. Only recently have restrictions lifted in some areas that would allow for them to start filming again.

One of the stars, Jason Wahler, recently revealed that "The Hills: New Beginnings" would resume filming in July, but rising COVID-19 numbers could throw a wrench in those plans again. Whenever Season 2 does arrive, though, it'll be worth the wait, according to Wahler.

"I’ll tell you this much -- [Filming Season 2] was great because we went in full, full steam ahead [before the coronavirus]," he told HollywoodLife in June. "I think this season personally is going to be 1,000 times better than last season. It’s just like everybody’s gotten comfortable with one another or the people that you know don’t like each other made it very known and vice versa."

The Season 1 cast of "The Hills: New Beginnings" included familiar faces Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Frankie Delgado, Jason Wahler, Stephanie Pratt, Whitney Port, and Justin Bobby. It also kept things interesting with the introduction of newcomers Mischa Barton, Kaitlynn Carter, and Brandon Thomas Lee.

While there has not been an official announcement, it seems everyone is on board for Season 2 except for Mischa Barton. Luckily though, it seems MTV has found the perfect replacement in one of the show's OG's -- Kristin Cavallari.

In March, the cookbook author confirmed that she would be making an appearance on "The Hills." At the time, she insisted that she could not take on a full-time role due to her responsibilities as a wife and mother, but with her divorce from Jay Cutler in the works and the ending of her E! reality show "Very Cavallari" that may change.

As far as what fans can expect to see when Season 2 of "The Hills: New Beginnings," the cast hasn't spilled much, likely because they haven't been filming so there is nothing to spill. That didn't stop Spencer from weighing in on one potential upcoming storyline -- Kristin's love life.

During a May episode of "The Speidi Podcast," he said, "I'm excited for her new chapter—hopefully on 'The Hills', you know, dating."
