Princess Diana had a very close relationship with her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. And she didn’t like it whenever her boys will be criticized by other people.

In the book “Diana: Her True Story – In Her Own Words,” royal author Andrew Morton said that as the royal siblings got older, they became like counselors and friends to their mom. Princess Diana relied on Prince William and Prince Harry during the fallout of her marriage to Prince Charles.

But even though she somehow depended on her kids, Princess Diana remained very protective of her boys.

“If you ever criticized the boys, she would be on you like a tigress. She was the only one who could criticize those two… Of course, she indulged them… She wanted to be a full hands-on parent herself… And interestingly, Prince William recently said the same thing about his own children, George and Charlotte… He wants to enjoy a relatively normal upbringing,” he told Fox News.

During the same interview, Morton talked about Princess Diana’s sudden death and said that Prince William and Prince Harry were still very young when they lost their mother.

“Well, I think the paparazzi followed her all of her adult life, so they contributed to her death. But it wasn’t their fault… It was the fact that she was being driven too fast… by a man who was found with drugs and drink… It’s the banality of her death which I think most people can’t come to terms with,” he said.

Princess Diana passed away following a fatal car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. Even though the former princess has been dead for over two decades, she is still greatly missed by her fans and her two sons.

Every now and then, Prince William and Prince Harry would talk about their mom. And they would also share some of their fondest memories with her when she was still alive.
