Employees of an electric company were taken aback after finding a snake inside a couriered box along with the lights. The incident took place in the southern Indian city of Bangalore on Saturday.

The employees opened the box couriered from India's capital New Delhi on Saturday morning and found something, that looked like a toy, along with the lights. However, the employees panicked when the reptile started moving inside the box. They immediately informed a snake catcher who arrived at the shop and rescued the two-feet snake.

Speaking to local daily the Times of India, Govinda, an employee said, the discovery was made when an employee was about to dump the boxes in the bin.

“We got the parcel on Friday and don’t know how the snake entered it. We took out the lights on Saturday morning and were going to dump the boxes when it was found,” he said.

“Moreover, this is a commercial area and not a place where snakes are found. I suspect it came in the courier box,” he added.

In a similar incident in the Indian state of Odisha in August, a shopper was shocked after finding a five-and-half feet cobra along with a box of groceries she had ordered. The parcel was sent through a courier service in a seal box. While at the courier office, a rat managed to enter the sealed box through a hole and the reptile too entered through the same hole. When the shopper, identified as Mrityu Kumar, opened the box, he was taken aback to see the reptile along with the grocery. He immediately informed the forest officials who arrived at the home and rescued the snake and released it in the wild.
