  • "Hulk" spinoff "Maestro" is coming this summer
  • The new "Maestro" series will explore the character's history
  • Mark Ruffalo is willing to star in a standalone “Hulk” movie

The “Hulk” spinoff entitled “Maestro” will have a new book coming this summer.

Marvel Entertainment will be bringing back a piece of Hulk’s history with veteran writer Peter David, who also wrote “Incredible Hulk.” He will be reviving Maestro, a villain he created decades ago for his comic book series.

Maestro debuted in 1992’s “The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect” series. He was one of the alternate versions of the Marvel characters who were forced to fight for supremacy against each other. Maestro is the corrupt version of the Hulk from an alternate universe.

“I had no idea that when I first created the Maestro for Future Imperfect, that he would have the kind of popularity and staying power he has now,” David said on Thursday (May 14) in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter .

“Until now, I’ve only been able to allude to his origins, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore them in this series, and I can’t wait for fans to see all the artwork that's been coming in!”

The new “Hulk” spinoff series will be illustrated by Dale Keown and Germán Peralta. The series will explore Maestro’s history and how he became the despot in command of a ravaged world that killed most of Marvel’s superhero lineup.

“Mestro” will be released in August.

Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo who plays Hulk in “The Avengers” shared that he is willing to star in a standalone film about his superhero character. Ruffalo believes that there are still a lot of things to explore about the strongest Avenger. However, at present, there are no done deals about it.

“There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in [the Disney Plus series] ‘She–Hulk.’ If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table,” Ruffalo said.

“He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”

Aside from the standalone movie, Ruffalo added that he wants to see the Hulk with Wolverine together now that Disney/Marvel has already purchased Fox.
