KEY POINTS

  • Hunter Biden appeared to be wearing a broken boot while shopping
  • He is currently under federal investigation for his 'tax affairs'
  • Republicans could double down on their investigation into Hunter if they win Senate

President Joe Biden's son Hunter was seen shopping at a luxury store in Beverly Hills, California, on the day of the midterm elections.

The younger Biden was seen walking out of a Ralph Lauren store and entering a Secret Service vehicle on Rodeo Drive on Election Day, according to Fox News. The outlet also noted that Hunter was wearing what appeared to be a broken boot while shopping.

The report comes as Republicans are poised to take over the House of Representatives in the midterm elections. The GOP needs a net gain of only five seats to win the chamber and one seat to win the Senate.

Should Republicans win the Senate, they are expected to double down on their investigation into Hunter and whether his business dealings with foreign entities impacted his father's leadership and the U.S. interests.

"If Joe Biden is compromised by his family's business schemes, it is a threat to our national security," Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told The Hill.

The younger Biden is currently under federal investigation for his "tax affairs." In early October, federal agents signaled that they found enough evidence to charge Hunter with crimes related to his taxes and making a false statement related to a gun purchase. However, a final decision has yet to be made by the U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss.

As of Tuesday, 11:07 p.m., Republicans secured 43 seats in the Senate and 126 in the House. The GOP needs to secure a total of 51 seats in the Senate and 218 seats in the House to get the majority.

Midterm polls have closed in several key states, including Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — some of which are expected to be toss-ups, according to CBS News.

The outlet also noted that other battleground states, including Florida, North Carolina and Ohio are leaning toward Republicans.

Apart from doubling down on an investigation into Hunter, Republicans also promised they would end the "spending spree" in Washington to resolve the country's inflation, tackle the nation's rising violent crime and border security and investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
