Some social media users have been sharing photos of a Twitter page purportedly belonging to President Joe Biden's daughter-in-law where she voiced support for former President Donald Trump and his debunked claim that he won the 2020 election.

One of the photos showed an Aug. 29 Twitter post by a user claiming to be Hallie Biden, the widow of the president's son Beau, promoting Trump's narrative that the election was rigged.

"President Trump won that election and my entire family knows it," the tweet read.

Another social media user later shared an Aug. 30 Twitter post by the user claiming to be Hallie. The latter said she is "coming out as a Donald Trump supporting Republican." This comes as reports about Hunter Biden continue to surface. Hallie briefly dated Hunter following her husband's death from brain cancer in 2015.

"Amid all of the recent drama and scandals surrounding my ex Hunter, I just wanted to say that I am officially coming out as a Donald Trump supporting Republican," the user claiming to be Hallie wrote. "[I] am ready to tell my truth, whatever it takes. I know things about that laptop and family that will shock the public."

A Facebook post, which shared a photo of Hallie's supposed tweet, was flagged by the platform for containing false information and garnered more than 90 likes and 17 shares in two weeks.

Screenshots of other tweets purportedly posted by Hallie were also published on Instagram and TikTok.

A spokesperson for the Beau Biden Foundation, whose board Hallie chairs, dismissed the photos shared across social media, saying they do not belong to her.

"Mrs. Hallie Biden does not have a Twitter account," the spokesperson said in an email to AFP. "Any account bearing her name is fraudulent."

According to AFP, the Twitter account with the handle "@HallieBiden" was active on Aug. 29, 2022, before it was suspended sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 for violating the platform's rules against impersonation. The account itself was created in August 2022 but did not receive the blue verification checkmark from Twitter. The checkmark indicates that the profiles of public figures on the platform are authentic.
