Ian Somerhalder Wife Nikki Reed Pregnant; Actor Says He’s Excited For New Chapter

Nikki Reed has a bun in the oven, and husband Ian Somerhalder has proudly shared the good news to their fans. The “Vampire Diaries” actor surprised everyone on Thursday when he revealed online that he and Reed are already expecting their first child together.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, Somerhalder poured his heart out and expressed how much it means to him to finally get the chance to become a father. “I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this,” the hunky model-actor, who plays Damon Salvatore in The CW’s vampire-themed drama series, wrote.

Somerhalder then admitted that he is definitely very excited for the “next chapter” in his life. “This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep it between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and our little one who is growing so fast…because that’s what they do, they grow so fast,” he added.

The “Sleepy Hollow” alum also shared a meaningful post on her Instagram account, but it is directed toward her unborn child with Somerhalder. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter addressed the baby inside her womb, saying, “Hi Little One. I know you, but only because I feel you. How is it possible to love someone so much already? All I know for sure is it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever felt … We can’t wait to meet you.”

In both posts, the happy parents-to-be shared the same picture of Somerhalder kneeling to kiss a smiling Reed’s baby bump. In the photo, Reed dons the chambray dress she’s modeling for the sustainable clothing line she’s launching in a few days.

The pregnancy announcement came as a total surprise since prior to revealing it, the couple were posting about the launch of Reed’s company. Reed shared a behind-the-scenes snap of her photoshoot for the clothing line, and Somerhalder reposted the same pic on his account.

Somerhalder then praised his wife in a sweet message expressing how “incredibly proud” he is of his partner. “One of my favorite things about you is your ability to say that you’re going to do something and then actually do it. Listening to you talk about starting a company just one year ago, and watching all of your time and love you’ve devoted to it - now seeing it become a reality in such a short period of time is simply mind blowing,” he wrote.

The “Lost” alum then reiterated just how proud he is of Reed’s venture by stating, “I just want you to know how proud I am of you and that I’m 100% behind you. I’m so excited to watch this grow. Congratulations my one and only love!”

After their big announcements, many fans rushed to leave positive messages for the couple. “OMG CONGRATS!!!! I will always support you and Ian, and you will have the most amazing children! You’ll be wonderful parents,” one fan wrote. “Congratulations! We all already know you two are going to be excellent parents,” another commented.

The pregnancy news comes two years after Somerhalder and Reed exchanged their wedding vows on April 26, 2015. Reed was previously married to Paul McDonald, while Somerhalder was formerly dating his “Vampire Diaries” leading lady Nina Dobrev.
