Freeform will be venturing out of its usual family and friends-oriented TV series with its first ever late-night show.

According to TV Line, the cable network has ordered six episodes of “Truth & Iliza,” which will be hosted by comedian Iliza Shleshinger. The weekly talk show will premiere on May 2 at 10 p.m. EST and will feature a slew of guest stars who will be interviewed by Shlesinger. Every week, the host will tackle one specific question with the help of the audiences, commentaries, jokes and more.

Freeform is excited to team up with Shlesinger in “Truth & Iliza” because of her decade-long experience in stand-up comedy. This background is expected to help her create monologues and skits centered on the sociopolitical issues of today.

Shlesinger has also expressed her excitement over her upcoming late-night show via a statement. “I’m so grateful to Freeform for inviting me to create a show that occupies a space between social commentary, politics, pop culture and my specific brand of comedy and feminism. This show will inform, entertain and it’s a great excuse to get a spray tan,” she said.

Meanwhile, other than her upcoming show, Shlesinger is set to launch her debut book sometime in the fall. She is also the brainchild behind the popular web series “Forever 31,” which has already been picked up for a second season by the ABCd app. The comedian’s third concert special, titled “Confirmed Kills,” is currently streaming on Netflix, according to Deadline.

Shelsinger will also serve as executive producer of “Truth & Iliza,” alongside John Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, David Martin and Kara Baker. Freeform’s EVP for Programming and Development Karey Burke said, “We are committed to introducing culturally important narratives and voices to our viewers. Iliza is one of those voices, and we can’t wait to bring her fearless, yet brilliantly funny social commentary and wit to our audience.”
