Iman was spotted out and about during New York Fashion Week, making it the first time the former supermodel has attended a public event since the death of her husband, David Bowie. Iman, who paid tribute to the late “Let’s Dance” singer with a special necklace, reflected on the past few months admitting that she’s still trying to adjust to life without her spouse.

“It’s been a tough year,” Iman told “Good Morning America” during the Tom Ford SS17 show Wednesday. “But I’m holding up.” The 61-year-old, dressed in a blue velvet suit, also revealed that she was honoring her former spouse by wearing a gold “David” necklace created by fashion designer Hedi Slimane. “I’m wearing this until my death,” she said.

Iman documented her night out on Instagram, sharing a photo of her getting ready for Ford’s NYFW show. Posting a photo of her in a full face of makeup with a towel on her head, Iman wrote: “My first night out attending an event since last year.” She later posted a photo of her standing outside Ford’s runway show. “Made it my first night out! Thanks @tomford for a very glam but intimate presentation #tomford,” she captioned the picture.

Bowie died Jan. 10 at the age of 69 from cancer. News of his death was announced on the singer’s website. “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer,” the statement read. “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”

A few months after Bowie’s death, Iman took to Twitter to reveal that she had also lost her mother Maryan Baadi. Posting a photo of her with her mom, the former model wrote that she was “saddened” by the loss. “May Allah grant her the highest jennah,” her message read. “I beg that you respect my family’s privacy during our time of grief #ripmaryanbaadi.”
