“iZombie” star Rose McIver revealed that her character, Liv, won’t be an avid supporter of Chase Graves in Season 4 of the CW series.

While Seattle has a new elected mayor in Floyd Baracus (Kurt Evans), ComicBook.com reported that Chase (Jason Dohring) is actually the city’s central authority when the show returns next year. And even though Chase and Liv (McIver) had a hookup last season, McIver revealed that Liv doesn’t think that Chase is leading the citizens of Seattle the right way.

“It’s sort of an authoritarian dictatorship, which obviously [Liv] doesn’t respond to,” McIver told the outlet of Chase’s leadership style. “But she also knows that zombies and humans co-existing is an incredible stretch. [So] how do we find a way that makes everybody feel safe, that makes nobody feel marginalized?”

McIver added that Season 4 is “so on-point politically,” and it’s something that she’s really proud of. “I’m really proud to be a part of … a comedy, zombie, fun show, [which is] still kind of … making comment about how we treat other and how we respond to having to coexist and tolerate and understand each other’s opinions,” the Kiwi actress said.

When asked if Season 4 will continue to explore the romance between Liv and Chase, McIver told Hidden Remote that anything is possible. “I think she’s definitely attracted to him,” McIver during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con in July. “She finds him an attractive, interesting [man] and she does respect him. They disagree very strongly about how to handle [things]. I don’t know going forward [that they’ll explore the relationship further], but I wouldn’t rule anything out.”

Meanwhile, executive producer Diane Ruggiero said that she’s looking forward to explore Liv’s rebellious side next season. “The exciting thing for me is a new dynamic of rebellion for Liv,” Ruggiero said (via Hidden Remote). “Now she’s not hiding. People know who she is and she’s sort of out and proud. She’s always had a heroic side to her and now having a heroic/rebellious side is going to be a fun thing to see.”

“iZombie” Season 4 will premiere midseason on The CW.
