James Gunn, who has been actively denying rumors revolving around "Guardians of the Galaxy," has commented on a rumor without denying it.

A Twitter user shared a post featuring Marvel characters Thanos and Gamora together alongside the Disney+ logo. The user captioned the post, "RUMOR: Disney+ Guardians of The Galaxy prequel series focuses on Gamora’s family-like relationship with Nebula and Thanos."

While Gunn didn't mention that there is no prequel coming up, he did comment that Thanos didn't have a "family-like" relationship with Gamora and Nebula.

Gunn retweeted the rumored post and wrote: "Lol no - he tortured them, not exactly a “family-like” relationship."

Fans in the comments section shared their reactions.

One of the fans commented on Gamora and Thanos' relationship featured in the "Avengers: Infinity War" movie, saying: "Thanos made Gamora one of the most feared warriors in the universe & she betrays him. I clapped & cheered when he tossed her over the cliff for the Soul Stone."

Another fan wrote, "Feels like a step back in the MCU arc. I guess prequel stories are fine, just not my cup of tea" to which Gunn replied, "Mine neither really."

Previously, there were rumors of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is removed from the 2023 release schedule. Gunn, who is responsible for directing the movie, debunked the rumors on Twitter last year and noted that the movie will release on the scheduled date.

While the plot of the movie has been kept under wraps, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" can be an emotional roller coaster as it will be the final chapter of the Guardians in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thanos' character was first introduced in The Invincible Iron Man #55 comic book released in 1973. The character was first introduced in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) via "The Avengers" movie, which was dropped in 2012.

In MCU, Gamora and Nebula play Thanos' daughters who share a toxic relationship with their father.

On the work front, Gunn is all set to release "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" in December this year while "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is slated to release on May 23, 2023.
