Jane Lynch’s CBS comedy “Angel From Hell” may have been axed by the network sooner than expected, but the actress is expected to return to television in the coming months.

According to TV Line, the “Glee” alum will headline NBC’s new comedy, “Privately Happy.” In the show, Lynch will give life to the character of Bobbi Martin, a divorce attorney mentoring Henry (Jon Rudnitsky). The latter moves in with his sister, Heather (Genevieve Angelson), after one of them suffers from a great loss.

“Will & Grace” co-creator Max Mutchnick and Jeff Astrof wrote the pilot and originally wanted the role of Bobbi to be given to a male actor. Eventually, the creators realized that Lynch is also perfect for the role so they tapped the Emmy winner.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a show on NBC, originally pegged to feature a male lead character, went through a gender switch. Actress Kathy Bates plays the lead in “Harry’s Law,” which was originally written for a male actor. After she was tapped by the network, they decided not to change the show’s title.

Lynch has a long and stellar career in television. While playing Coach Sue Sylvester in Ryan Murphy’s Glee, Lynch won an Emmy for the role in 2010. After the FOX series was canceled in 2013, Lynch went on “Criminal Minds” as Diana. She also hosts the NBC game show “Hollywood Game Night,” which is currently on its fifth season. According to Deadline, Lynch also received two Emmy awards for hosting the show.

As of late, other details about “Privately Happy” are still being kept under wraps, but the comedy is rumored to premiere sometime this year.
