The Hardy Boyz reign as WWE Tag Team champs could be ending soon with reports that Jeff Hardy is injured. Matt Hardy recently took part in tag team action although he ended up partnering with R-Truth at a live event in Sioux City, Iowa on Monday.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Jeff Hardy sustained the injury while he was at the corner of his brother Matt at a Sunday live event in Rochester, Minnesota. Matt won over Jimmy Uso but Jeff was spotted limping significantly after the match.

The severity of Jeff Hard’s injury has yet to be known although it does place the WWE tag team titles in a precarious state. As of this writing, the Hardys are not embroiled in any feud or major storyline. If Jeff ends up missing time to appear in shows, there is a chance that the WWE may strip the Hardys of the belts.

There are a couple of tag teams that could be in play and become next WWE Tag Team champions. With the Usos now on WWE Raw, some of the remaining teams on SmackDown include the tandem of Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, Heavy Machinery and the team of Gallows and Anderson.

With Jeff out, there is also that possibility that the unlikely duo of Matt Hardy and R-Truth could form a temporary team. However, the WWE is likely to hold a special match to determine the new tag teams – seeing that Matt and R-Truth are technically a fresh combo.

Lest we forget, there is also the New Day who could enter the picture. Even with Big E out of commission, Xavier Woods and reigning WWE champion Kofi Kingston could end up targeting the WWE Tag Team titles. Unfortunately, it seems that a new drama is unfolding and it involves the Dreadlocked Dynamo and Kevin Owens.

In the recent episode of WWE SmackDown Live, the erstwhile honorary member of the New Day finally showed his true colors to Kingston and Woods. Kingston was facing Nakamura in the main event. Rusev ignited a melee and such saw the involvement of Owens and Woods. After clearing out the ring, Owens turned on Kingston and revealed his true intentions - the WWE heavyweight title.

The next days should provide an update on Jeff Hardy’s injury and likely the fate of the WWE tag team titles. For now, the Hardy Boyz remain the official champions.
