Jena Malone shared her experience chasing a dog abuser on the streets of Hollywood, noting that the man was repeatedly kicking a small dog.

The 37-year-old actress took to Twitter on Wednesday following the incident and wrote, "This was really scary. I saw a man kicking repeatedly a small dog on the sunset, yanking him up in the air and absolutely choking the dog."

"I yelled at him to stop from my car but he wouldn’t," she added. "I got out of my car to try and get the dog but he started running. (thread)."

"So I started chasing him. I saw other people watching on the street upset, as they must have seen the same abhorrent behavior I witnessed," she added. "So I tried to signal a man in an orange vest to run with me to chase him."

The "The Hunger Games" star further explained that she didn't think at that point she will be able to "get the dog back" all by herself. However, after chasing the man for another block, she realized there were 5 other men in pursuit of the dog abuser with her.

"Which felt like a miracle," she continued. "So at this point I held back and let them take the lead as I have no business trying to restrain a full grown man. I went back to get my car (it was still running) and drove to see if they caught him."

6 blocks down from where the chase began, Malone explained that the abuser no longer had the dog with him and she pulled over to ensure the animal was safe. "I didn’t see the brawl but I was told that the man did not give up the dog without a fight," she wrote.

Malone's tweets were in response to NBC Los Angeles' report about the actress witnessing the dog abuser near Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, on Monday. The report had stated that a group of people helped catch the person and beat him.

A video of the same can be seen here:

The dog abuser, whose identity has not been revealed, said that he doesn’t think the dog was hurt. "That's why I did it, it's my mother's dog and he should obey me," he said at that time.

Malone also shared the dog's condition following the entire incident. The dog was taken to a hospital and had sustained a "fractured rib, bone breaks in it’s hind legs and another fracture in its right paw. It was absolutely horrific seeing an animal treated this way."
