Jennifer Aniston has revealed she won't be attending the 2021 Emmy Awards on Sept. 19 due to safety concerns amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"No, I will not be going," she said in a recent interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "I think Ben Winston, our producer and director, [who's] incredible, who put the whole [reunion] together [will go].

"This is a big step for me to just be here. Just baby steps," the 52-year-old actress added.

Aniston has been nominated for an Emmy Award this year, but she's not taking any chances when it comes to the steady spread of the Delta variant strain. She said if she ever wins, Winston will accept the award on her behalf.

She then told Kimmel she's been staying home ever since the pandemic struck in early 2020 and has only been going out to film the second season of her show, "The Morning Show." She also occasionally goes out to do press and visit her close friends Courtney Cox and Jason Bateman.

"We had this little bubble of friends—thank God, I love all of you so much—but yeah, it was hard. Weird times," she further said.

While Aniston has decided not to attend this year's run of the awards show due to safety concerns, the Television Academy will ensure safety precautions are in place for everyone who will be present at the ceremony. Precautions include limiting the show to around 600 guests, holding the event in an open-air tent on the LA Live deck in downtown Los Angeles and requiring attendees to show their proof of vaccination and proof of negative COVID-19 result before being allowed to enter the venue.

Last year, the Emmy Awards was held virtually and Aniston was there to hand out the first award along with Kimmel. She ended up making headlines for extinguishing trash can fire after a stunt involving burning the winner's envelope took a bad turn.

"Friends: The Reunion," in which Aniston starred, aired earlier this year. It has been nominated for a total of four Emmys, including Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special.
