  • Jessica Biel commented "I love you" on husband Justin Timberlake's apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson
  • Jackson commented on a tweet by Tinashe expressing support for her and Spears following Timberlake's statement
  • Timberlake apologized for his past "ignorance" and for benefiting "from a system that condones misogyny and racism"

Justin Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, expressed support for the singer following his public apology to ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and former Super Bowl halftime show collaborator Janet Jackson.

Biel left a message of love and support on the lengthy statement posted by Timberlake on Instagram Friday. The "Cry Me a River" singer had apologized for his past "ignorance" and for benefiting "from a system that condones misogyny and racism."

"I love you," Biel commented, along with a red heart emoji, People reported. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, have two sons, 5-year-old Silas and new baby Phineas.

While she hasn't responded directly to the apology, Jackson made it clear that she is aware of the love and support of her fans and peers when she commented on a post by Tinashe Friday. The "No Drama" singer expressed her support for Jackson and Spears after Timberlake's apology.

"Anyone who knows me knows Britney Spears and Janet Jackson are literally my two biggest idols in the whole universe and I just hope they know how much they mean to me/us," she tweeted with a red heart emoji.

When asked what her favorite song from Jackson was, Tinashe replied saying her all-time favorite album is the 54-year-old singer's "The Velvet Rope."

Jackson responded to Tinashe's reply by posting a black heart and hug emoji.

"We love you, Queen," Tinashe replied with a crown emoji and red heart emoji.

Timberlake issued the statement in the wake of the release of The New York Times' documentary "Framing Britney Spears," which focused on the pop star's turmoil over the years, including her 2002 split from Timberlake. The New York Times doc showed Timberlake on a radio show bragging that they had sex and his "Cry Me a River" music video, which starred a Spears look-alike and implied that his ex had cheated on him.

He also apologized to Jackson for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance fiasco caused by him ripping a part of his co-performer's outfit, accidentally exposing her breast. Jackson and Timberlake were treated differently after the controversial performance, with the former bearing the brunt of the backlash. Jackson was banned from the Grammys and blacklisted by MTV.

"I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,” Timberlake wrote on Instagram Friday. "I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism."

Spears hasn't reacted or issued a statement in response to Timberlake's apology.
