Johny Depp has been a film sensation since the 1980's but his status as a global phenomenon was cemented after the release of Pirates of the Caribbean. Since then he has managed to be a respected actor and one of the most desired men on the planet. With two new film roles generating buzz, Depp is giving fans a couple of major reasons to head to the theater. Dark Shadows is a dark comedy inspired by the 1970's vampire soap of the same name. Depp stars as Barnabas Collins, a cursed member of the undead who rises from the grave after hundreds of years. He is forced to assimilate into 70's life and of course encounters some major difficulties along the way. For instance, he thinks that the TV is an evil entity of witchcraft and misinterprets the termed stoned as an ancient form of punishment.

The Lone Ranger is a radically different project. It re-teams Depp with Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The film is still in the early stage of development and has recently gotten over a few budgetary difficulties. Bruckheimer told MTV that the film would include some elements of fantasy rather than strictly being a Western. Depp is set to take on the iconic role of Tonto, while hunky Armie Hammer will portray the title character. That's a whole lot of sex appeal to cram into one film!

Over the years, Depp has made the laid back/grunge look immensely fashionable. Even while attending high profile awards ceremonies, he appears unshaven and unkept. Yet if anyone has been able to pull these casual looks off, it's Depp. Here's a look at some photos of the Oscar nominated actor in all his grungy glory!
