KEY POINTS

  • Lily-Rose Depp said her parents instilled in her the need to protect their privacy
  • Johnny Depp's daughter has no Twitter account because she doesn't feel the need for it
  • The actress felt entitled to her secret garden of thoughts, and she's not answering for anybody

Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, explained why she doesn't comment on her dad's legal battle.

Lily-Rose, 23, got candid about why she kept mum amid her father's legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. In her interview with Elle magazine, the young actress explained how her mom and dad raised them, prompting her not to speak about personal issues.

"I've just been raised in a manner that has taught me that privacy is something that's important to protect," she told the outlet.

Lily-Rose doesn't have a Twitter account "because I don't feel like there's anything I want to say that I can't say through my work."

Although she has been in the limelight with popular parents, the "Savage" star still wants to keep some aspects of her life away from the public eye.

"When it's something that's so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal...I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts," Lily-Rose added. "I also think that I'm not here to answer for anybody," which probably included Johnny's past scandals involving his defamation trial against Heard.

Lily-Rose understood that people would define her by the men in her life, whether they were her family members or boyfriends, and she was ready for it. "I'm really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there," she said.

Johnny's daughter received a barrage of hate comments from her dad's superfans over her silence during his defamation trial against the "Aquaman" actress, Page Six reported. Many commented on her Instagram post on April 9, demanding her to break her silence and support her father.

"Say something about @johnnydepp," one commented. Another added, "Thank your parents. Without them, you would be nothing."

Some of Johnny's fans also quickly defended Lily-Rose because they knew the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star wouldn't be happy about the attacks against his daughter.

"Ignore the hate love. We know you support your dad, not everything has to be so public," one commented. A second user added, "Johnny would not want you all attacking his daughter. Leave her alone. She has done nothing to deserve yall attacking her. Be better humans!"

Johnny and his ex Vanessa Paradis dated for 14 years, from 1998 to 2012. They share two children, Lily-Rose and Jack. In a 2007 interview, Paradis explained why she chose to raise their children in France.

"For my children, I secretly choose France. Even though Los Angeles is great too. We raise them bilingually anyway, so for them, it doesn't really matter. Only, in the South of France, you can live much more anonymously. And that's a bliss, especially when the children are still young," she said, People reported.
