  • Joy-Anna Duggar and husband Austin Forsyth said Josh Duggar's child pornography charges "sadden us to our core"
  • They said they are "heartbroken" over "children in the world being harmed and exploited"
  • Josh was released on bail Thursday after pleading not guilty to charges of receiving and possessing child pornography

Joy-Anna Duggar has broken her silence on her brother Josh Duggar's arrest on child pornography charges.

The "Counting On" star had remained mum after Josh was arrested by federal agents in Arkansas on April 29 and indicted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on bail last week.

But Joy-Anna and her husband, Austin Forsyth, are now speaking out about the charges brought against the oldest Duggar son, saying in a statement that they are "heartbroken."

"The recent accusations brought against Josh sadden us to our core. We have not wanted to be hasty in making any statements while trying to process the news ourselves," the couple said in a joint statement to E! News.

"We are especially heartbroken by the reality that there are children in the world being harmed and exploited. We ask for prayer for all those involved, and it is our continued prayer that the truth comes to light," they added.

Other sisters of Josh, Jinger Duggar and Jessa Duggar, previously released statements addressing his arrest.

"We are disturbed to hear of the charges against Josh," Jinger and her husband Jeremy Vuolo wrote in a joint statement on social media. "While this case must go through the legal system, we want to make it clear that we absolutely condemn any form of child abuse and fully support the authorities and judicial process in their pursuit of justice."

Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, also said they were "saddened" about the charges and want to know the truth.

"We are saddened to hear of the charges against Josh," read Jessa and Seewald's joint statement. "As Christians, we stand against any form of pornography or abuse and we desire for the truth to be exposed, whatever that may be. Our prayers are with their family as they walk through this difficult time."

Josh was released from the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Thursday, but he was not allowed to return to the home he shares with his wife Anna and their six children.

According to a judge, the "19 Kids and Counting" alum has to be "in a residence where there's no minor in the home." Josh and Anna share six children together and all of them are minors — Mackynzie, 11, Michael, 9, Marcus, 7, Meredith, 5, Mason, 3, and Maryella, 1. Anna just recently revealed that they are expecting their seventh child, a baby girl.

Josh is staying with Duggar family friends Lacount and Maria Reber while he waits for the trial of his child pornography case, which is scheduled for July 6.
