  • Harry Kane is not yet allowed to rejoin Tottenham
  • Kane is undergoing a 14-day quarantine following a trip to the Caribbean
  • Kane's health will be closely monitored moving forward

Tottenham has started preseason training as they begin to recover lost ground following a disappointing season. However, it may take another week before Harry Kane can join them as the 27-year-old striker is in quarantine after his Caribbean getaway.

Unfortunately for Kane, the Bahamas was added to the U.K. quarantine list on Aug. 7. He is in self-isolation for 14 days after returning home from a family vacation to the Caribbean, BBC reported.

The English football player can only start training by next week before the Premier League opener against Everton on Sept. 12.

Kane is expected to make the most of what he can do now while in isolation with his pregnant wife and two kids. The setup should not be much of a problem for the 27-year-old, who spent the past four months training on his own. He is coming off a hamstring injury and has been rehabilitating it for the past months, Sky Sports reported.

The striker is expected to be all fired up once he makes his return to the field. Despite seeing limited action, Kane was Tottenham's top-scorer with 24 last season.

With the 27-year-old out of action, critics tried to speculate on what the future holds. With Tottenham's unfortunate campaign, some felt the English striker could end up considering a move to another club with better chances of winning a title. Pundits feel the Spurs are a long way off from being contenders.

On Kane's part, he also needs to address his durability. He could be marketable, but teams are likely to factor in his history of injuries. He could get short-term deals with clubs wary of paying heftily for someone who may be spending more time in the sidelines.

Hence, for now, all Jose Mourinho can do is prepare with the available personnel for the 2020-21 season. Spurs players are returning on a staggered basis following a forgettable 2019-20 season.

Among the first faces to return for Tottenham were Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart. Shortly after, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Harry Winks and Ben Davies also joined the fray.

The Spurs will kick off their pre-season campaign against Ipswich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
