  • Kanye West shared a doctored New York Times cover with a fake headline declaring Pete Davidson's death at 28
  • The faux news report also dissed Davidson's friend Kid Cudi
  • The post came after Davidson's split from Kim Kardashian made headlines

Kanye West returned to social media to diss Pete Davidson after the comedian's split from Kim Kardashian.

The "Donda" artist took to Instagram Monday to share a faux New York Times front page with a headline that read: "Skete Davidson Dead at Age 28," Page Six reported. Skete is the nickname West gave to the 28-year-old "Saturday Night Live" alum.

The subheadline for the fake newspaper took a dig at Kid Cudi, whose friendship with Davidson led to his falling-out with West.

"Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers," the subheadline read, referencing Cudi walking off the stage at last month's Rolling Loud festival in Miami after fans threw objects at him.

West did not caption the image, which has since been deleted. The rapper's Instagram page is currently empty.

This comes a few days after Davidson and Kardashian's split made headlines. They reportedly parted ways after nine months of dating due to difficulty maintaining their relationship amid their busy schedules.

West dubbed Davidson "Skete" throughout his one-sided feud with the comedian, which began after Davidson started dating Kardashian in October 2021. The reality star filed for divorce from West, with whom she shares North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3, in February last year and was declared legally single this March.

The Yeezy designer previously dissed Davidson in the music video for his track "Eazy," which featured West kidnapping and burying a cartoon version of the "King of Staten Island" star. West also attacked Davidson in a second video for the same song, this time while the actor wore a "Skete" hoodie.

Meanwhile, West's feud with Cudi began in February after the "Heartless" hitmaker posted on Instagram that Cudi, who is known to be a close friend of Davidson, won't appear on his album "Donda 2" because of his friendship with "you know who."

At the time, Cudi fired back at West, commenting on his post: "Too bad I don't want to be on [your] album, [you] f—in' dinosaur."

Last month, Cudi replaced West as the headliner of the opening night of the Rolling Loud festival after the "Gold Digger" rapper pulled out of the event. But he was forced to stop mid-performance after someone in the audience, many of whom were reportedly fans of West, threw a water bottle and hit him in the face.

Cudi threatened to walk out, but attendees continued to throw items in his direction, causing him to eventually storm off the stage. Following his exit, West's fans who were in the crowd chanted his name.

Lil Durk later took the stage, and to everyone's surprise, brought out West to perform "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1." At the time, attendees speculated if West's decision to play his "Life of Pablo" tune was a diss to Cudi, who is featured on the song.
