Kanye West is looking to change his legal name to "Ye."

On Tuesday, the singer filed court documents to shorten his name, noting that "in California, unless there's evidence a name change is designed to commit fraud or other shenanigans… the judge will approve it," TMZ reported.

The L.A. Superior Court filing said West wanted to get rid of his full name, Kanye Omari West, in favor of his longtime two-letter nickname, with no middle or last names. The name change was for "personal reasons."

West, who used the name Ye on his social media accounts for many years, tweeted in 2018 that he wanted to change his name, saying, "the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE."

He also named his 2018 album after his moniker.

"I wanted something to match my energy," the Grammy winner told radio host Big Boy in a June 2018 interview. "I believe 'Ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means 'you.' So I'm you, I'm us, it's us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are."

The move to change his name comes amid his divorce from Kim Kardashian, who did not ask that her last name be changed back to just Kardashian when she filed to split from West in February. Their four children – North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm – have also retained his last name.

Kardashian showed support for her former husband days before the filing by sharing a photo of her car radio playing the tracks of West's newest album, "Donda."
