Kate Gosselin Says She’s A Relaxed Mom In ‘Kate Plus 8’ Sextuplet Birthday Episode Sneak Peek

Kate Gosselin claims she’s a far cry from the stressed out mom of eight she was during her early days of motherhood. In a sneak-peek clip of Tuesday’s episode of “Kate Plus 8,” the TLC reality star dishes about her parenting style now that her youngest offspring are turning 11.

“I am relaxing, chilling out. I can tell that about myself,” Kate, 40, reveals in the teaser (via People). While she used to get upset over everything from ex-husband Jon Gosselin’s decision to not use coupons during shopping trips or her kids chewing gum — viewers will remember that epic “Jon and Kate Plus 8” moment — she says she can now laugh off the smaller issues in life.

“I kind of laugh at myself sometimes. Things that used to really send me over the edge. And now, at this age, I’m just like, hey, whatever,” she says. “I just can’t keep spending my energy on meltdown of the century every time something little happens.”

Tuesday’s episode of “Kate Plus 8” will feature Kate’s sextuplets' 11th birthday party. Aaden, Collin, Leah, Joel, Alexis and Hannah will celebrate their momentous day with a “progressive birthday party.”

“I didn’t know what else to call it,” Kate confesses to the cameras.

Their party will be more low-key then prior celebrations featured on “Kate Plus 8.” While the previous years have taken the sextuplets to Orlando, Florida, to swim with the dolphins, among other big adventures, Kate reveals this year her children will be celebrating near their hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Their party will involve roller skating, pizza, and a hotel sleepover with friends.

Kate later confesses that the party may not be as laid back as she envisioned. “I think I fooled myself into thinking this was going to be a low-key party and it meant less work. Oh, no! It wasn’t less work,” she says.

The sextuplets' birthday episode comes one week after TLC aired Kate’s 40th birthday special. In the episode “The BIG Four-Oh,” Kate and her eight kids, including 14-year-old twins Mady and Cara, traveled to Mexico to celebrate their mother’s momentous day with a week of fun in the sun.

“Kate Plus 8: Birthday 11” premieres Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT on TLC.
