What will Kate Middleton wear in BAFTAs next week? This is what some people are wondering at the moment after her dress last year sparked controversy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have already confirmed their attendance for the 72nd British Academy Film and Televisions Arts (BAFTAs) awards in London on Feb. 10. Middleton’s fans are wondering what she will wear for the upcoming event.

Last year, Prince William and Middleton joined the biggest stars on the red carpet at the BAFTAs. At the time, most of the guests adhered to the "unofficial black dress code" in support of the Time’s Up campaign against sexual harassment.

To the surprise of many, Middleton didn’t wear black but instead donned a dark green dress by Jenny Packham. The gown featured a black velvet ribbon that many took as a subtle nod to the cause.

According to Business Insider, there’s a reason why the duchess opted not to wear a full black ball gown. The royal family is expected to be politically neutral so by not observing the Time’s Up dress code, Middleton is keeping her views to herself. However, some critics were disappointed by the move, pointing out that objecting to sexual harassment was not political.

According to Hello!, Middleton has graced BAFTAs twice. She was also present in 2017. At the time, she sported a black patterned off-the-shoulder gown designed by Alexander McQueen. The dress featured a Bardot neckline, bodice and full-length skirt with stylish ribbon detailing. She accessorized with the Edinburgh wedding gift bracelet loaned to her by Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2011, Middleton wore a divine lavender gown by Alexander McQueen for BAFTA Brits to Watch event. She paired it with sassy, silver Jimmy Choo Vamp sandals.

Middleton is a fan of Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham designs. Considering her history in BAFTAs, she might wear another gown from either of the said designers.

In related news, some were glad that Meghan Markle wasn’t invited in BAFTAs 2019. However, one netizen predicted that the former “Suits” will make a scene on that day to steal the spotlight.

“Thank you BAFTAs for sparing the public by exlcuding #MeghanMarkle & her #moonbump. Also, mark you calendar for epic PR fluff pieces from Meg that day…” the netizen wrote on Twitter.
