Kate Middleton dated another man after her short split from Prince William.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge broke up in 2007. Since Middleton was single at the time, she went out on a date with Prince William's rival and Eton schoolmate, shipping heir Henry Ropner.

Harper's Bazaar shared a snap of Middleton and Ropner together during their date. The publication noted that it was not a regular rebound scenario. The two were just enjoying their time together.

"Henry is delighted to be there for Kate now that she's split from William," an insider said at the time. "They've been meeting up and enjoying themselves."

The insider added that "there's been a lot of flirting" and "now she's single, Kate is enjoying Henry's company regularly. Henry is very wealthy. He has moved in William’s circle for years."

According to InStyle, Middleton and Ropner's relationship made the Duke of Cornwall jealous. There were also reports claiming that Prince William also dated Ropner's ex after they had broken up.

Apparently, what Middleton and Ropner had didn't last long. Prince William and Middleton rekindled their romance after a few months.

The royal couple previously talked about their split during their engagement interview. Middleton admitted that it had not been easy for her. "I think I at the time wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person," Middleton said. "You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realised. Or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger."

During their split, Middleton flew to Dublin with her mom, Carole. They visited her first exhibition at the Urban Retreat Gallery and National Gallery of Ireland, which wasn't surprising as the Duchess of Cambridge's passion includes art. In fact, she took Art History at the University of St. Andrew where she met her royal husband.

During the outing, a number of reporters spotted Middleton and wanted to interview her, but she "politely declined." The said trip was made just a few weeks after Prince William and Middleton's split and the media wasn't aware of their break up yet.

Apparently, Prince William and Middleton were meant to be. They tied the knot in April 2011 and the couple has just celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary five months ago just a few days after welcoming their third child, Prince Louis.
