Kate Middleton is doing more after she was called “lazy” and following Meghan Markle’s exit.

The Duchess of Cambridge has not faced the same criticisms as intense as her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. However, that doesn’t mean that she was spared by the royal critics. In fact, she was called “lazy” several times in the past years. Royal expert Omid Scobie did not deny that Prince William’s wife wasn’t very active in terms of her royal duties before.

“I think there had been times where it felt like she wasn’t doing a lot,” Scobie said in the “Heirpod” podcast.

However, the royal expert recognized how the duchess has improved over the years. According to him, Middleton has already found her niche and she is doing good at what she does.

“And we’re now at a point where I think she’s really realising the impact that she can have when using her platform wisely. [Her recent work] has seen Kate really step out into a more confident role, we’ve seen her quietly, over the recent months, pick up a little bit of steam.”

Middleton focuses her efforts in understanding the impact of childhood experiences and parents’ perspective, child’s perspective and carer’s perspective. She has been working on this field for several years already and will still be working on it in the next decades because Middleton considers this a lifelong project.

Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey also noticed how Middleton has improved. She said on “This Morning” that the future queen has “raised her game.” It could be due to the pressure following Prince Harry and Markle’s exit.

Last year, Middleton faced another round of criticisms when Twitter users compared her to the Duchess of Sussex. According to the netizens, they were disappointed in Middleton because Markle did more than her in the latter’s brief stay with the royals.

“I have been saying for the longest time that Kate is not a the level I would expect her to be at after 8 yrs in the Royal family. She is forever stuck at year 1!!!!!” one wrote on Twitter.

“[I] noticed that...but really, 8 years and there's nothing to show,” another user wrote, adding that Middleton will always be known as “duchess do little.”

Both Prince William and Middleton have taken their roles more seriously this time and royal experts have noticed it. Richard Fitzwilliams even said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the Queen’s saving grace amid the drama that plagued the royal family last year.
