Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian have a connection.

According to Harriet Mallinson, a journalist for Express, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star made effort to impress the Duchess of Cambridge. In fact, in 2012, Kardashian created a high-heeled shoe to celebrate Middleton's birthday. The reality star named it "The Duchess."

Kardashian and her team at US online fashion subscription ShoeDazzle described the footwear as "classic quilting and graceful silhouette channels the Duchess' classic style."

Kardashian also released a clip on YouTube wishing Prince William's wife a happy birthday. "I love her style personally and I think that every woman should feel like a princess everyday," Kardashian said.

In autumn 2012, Kardashian and her sisters also launched a fashion collection at Dorothy Perkins. In a bid to promote the line in the UK, they reportedly sent a section of free clothes to Middleton. They were hoping that Middleton would wear the designs in public as they believed it would give a big boost to their fashion credentials. Unfortunately, the presents were sent back as royals don't accept unsolicited gifts.

In related news, Middleton will have her own coronation when her husband, Prince William, becomes king. However, the ceremony will be a bit modest.

"Unless decided otherwise, a Queen consort is crowned with the King, in a similar but simpler ceremony," the royal website stated.

When a woman marries a sovereign, she will automatically share his rank that's why Middleton is due to become a queen consort However, this does not apply to men marrying a royal.

"The wife of the king is by tradition a queen," Marlene Koenig told Hello! "The husband of a queen, in most monarchies, has to be created a title. A husband does not share a wife's rank and the same goes for the husbands of Princesses."

This is the reason Prince Philip is never called king even if his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, is the monarch. Before Middleton becomes the queen, she will first inherit Princess Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles' respective titles. Middleton will be the next Princess of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall when Prince Charles takes over the throne because his current titles will be passed over to Prince William.
