Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s feud was recently reignited after one royal writer said that the fallout is just history repeating itself.

Daisy Goodwin, the writer for ITV’s period drama “Victoria,” told Express that the issues surrounding the two Duchesses are similar to the issues the other members of the royal family faced years ago.

“When Meghan got engaged to Harry, I thought, ‘How long will it be before we decide it’s daggers drawn because that’s what happens… Nothing is new.’ There is always competition among the royals but about who is the most popular one,” she said.

Goodwin went on to discuss the events from the 19th century wherein there were several instances with the royals of how Princess Alexandra refused to talk to the Grand Duchess Maria or how Princess Louise had an affair with the husband of one of her sisters.

Meanwhile, Goodwin said that another issue between Middleton and Markle has to do with the fact that they are very different from each other. The differences between the Duchesses is what may have caused friction between Prince William and Prince Harry.

“I am fascinated by the current royals because nothing has changed. History does not have to be stuffy, it can be racier… Gossip from a great deal of history so I put it all in – the juicy bits… Who knows what the real story is between Meghan and Kate?” she said.

In related news, Middleton and Markle are being pitted against each other once again due to the upcoming Chelsea Flower Show.

The upcoming show in May is one of the highlights of the royal calendar especially since Queen Elizabeth II visits the event yearly. Up until this weekend, the highlight of this year’s displays was meant to be a classic English garden co-designed by Middleton herself.

But according to the Sunday Times, another garden will overshadow the one that Middleton will design this year, and it will be supported by Markle and Prince Harry.
