Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are reportedly embroiled in a power-play, claims a family consultant.

Sheela Mackintosh-Stewart, also a divorce lawyer, told Express that the two duchesses are like chalk and cheese because of their radically different personalities, characters, backgrounds, and upbringings.

Mackintosh-Stewart described Middleton as a reserved, privately educated, family-focused English woman who has never really worked outside of her royal duties. Markle, on the other hand, is an American go-getter who is direct, goal-oriented, impatient, driven, and outspoken.

According to the expert, the two female royals’ differences have fueled an obvious power-play between them.

“Meghan probably feels slightly vulnerable as the newcomer into a long-established royal family. She is still adjusting to royal life and the expectations associated with it – a curtailing of freedom and independence, a new culture, a new way of life, and new family members,” she said.

Meanwhile, the family consultant also talked about Prince William and Prince Harry and said the royal siblings play an important role in the tension between their wives.

“The rift is not helped by William and Harry understandably leaping into their wives’ defense, taking sides and being overprotective,” she said.

On Christmas Day, Prince Harry was spotted standing beside his wife amid rumors that Markle was feuding with Middleton and Prince William. A source also told The Sun that the Duke of Sussex will brook absolutely no criticism of the Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry has also become very sensitive when he sees criticisms and negativity where there should not be any.

Last year, multiple publications dubbed Markle as a “Difficult Duchess” due to her outrageous demands that started even before her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry. The “Suits” alum was also rumored to have made Middleton cry during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaids fitting.

During their Christmas Day church service, Markle and Middleton proved that they were not at odds with each other. The two women oftentimes spoke to each other, and they also looked into each other’s eyes while talking. However, Markle didn’t have the chance to talk to Prince William in public during their joint outing.
